Complex fractions work just like regular fractions, they're just uglier. The easiest way to solve is generally to cross-multiply:

If you cross-multiply, you end up with:

Which multiplies out to
From there, combine like terms:

Add or subtract to get all your variables on one side:

And what happens? In this case, the numbers cancel each other out, so go ahead and solve like a regular algebra problem:

It's rare that you would be left with a quadratic equation in these types of SAT problems, but if that happens, simply get everything to one side so the other equals zero, and solve.
